Body Eclectic is emerging artist Kenya Davis’ debut solo show. Consisting of different materials, approaches, and styles; Body Eclectic presents a varietal blend of strong, singular pieces that collectively boast of Davis’ range and ability. Her body of work can be categorized into distinct sub-collections; the largest of which contains works that are non-representational abstractions of color, light and texture. Described as mixed media, most of these pieces have recycled and found objects skillfully imbedded within the picture plane. Along with titles like Cosmos, Blue, and Ethereal; the viewer is presented with visual data that suggests an overall theme, but must rely on his or her own sensibilities in deciphering the untold stories.

Complimenting the abstracted works is Davis’ Kenyan Collection. Inspired by “The Motherland,” this decorative collection includes mixed-media sculpted figures that take on a life of their own. From regal to rustic, and everything in between; each piece is individually handcrafted to reflect artistic style and cultural flair with a touch of whimsy.

Rounding out Body Eclectic, viewers will delight in Kenya’s pieces that feature Spray Paint Art. This unconventional paint application is heightened by Davis’ masterful use of misty layers of over-spray, creative stenciling, and vibrant color to yield faint images of keys, puzzle pieces, chains and other mysterious symbols.

Whether you prefer two-dimensional or three-dimensional, figurative or non-representational, decorative or “fine” artistic displays; Body Eclectic presents an engaging medley of art that adheres to fundamentals of good design. Seemingly disparate pieces are unified through visual echoes of color, pattern, and texture; which help this eclectic body of work find its rhythm.
